The charismatic Bollywood superstar and co-owner of the Knight Riders group, Shah Rukh Khan, added glamour to the Dubai International Cricket Stadium as he cheered from the stands during the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders' (ADKR) triumphant performance in their first match of the ongoing ILT20 2024 against the Desert Vipers (DV).

SRK has consistently served as the fortunate charm for the Knight Riders group, showcasing his positive influence on numerous occasions in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) whenever he graced the matches to support the Kolkata Knight Riders.

While present in Dubai, the Bollywood icon quickly learned about the Knight Riders playing a match in the city. Without hesitation, he opted to attend the game, aiming to uplift the spirits of the fans and provide his unwavering support to the team.


In a thrilling clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl against the Desert Vipers. Their bowlers, led by skipper Sunil Narine (2/23) and Ali Khan's impressive death-over spell, restricted Desert Vipers to a reachable 164 for eight. 

Adam Hose top-scored with 45 runs off 30 balls, supported by a quick 22 from skipper Colin Munro. A crucial 57-run partnership between Wanindu Hasaranga (24) and Hose for the fourth wicket helped the Vipers cross the 150-mark.

In response, the Knight Riders comfortably chased down the target, reaching 166/4 in just 17.4 overs. Andries Gous played a stellar innings, contributing 95 off 50 balls, while Michael-Kyle Pepper added a brisk 36 off 25 balls. Gous showcased excellent partnerships, first with Pepper in an 85-run stand for the second wicket and then with Laurie Evans (21) in a 71-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Tymal Mills was the standout bowler for the Vipers, finishing with figures of 2/21.

Following the exciting match, a heartwarming and adorable moment unfolded on the field. Andre Russell, the dynamic all-rounder for the Knight Riders, known for his power-hitting, paid tribute to his franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan by striking the iconic pose from the movie DDLJ. 

The co-owner of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, SRK, was visibly touched by Russell's gesture. In response, the Bollywood superstar expressed his appreciation with a flying kiss and a muscle gesture, acknowledging Russell's well-known moniker, "Russell Muscle." The camaraderie between the two transcended the boundaries of cricket, and the video quickly became viral on the internet.
