Keshav Maharaj, who is having a World Cup to remember, bowled a dream delivery to get rid of Shubman Gill on Sunday (November 5) during South Africa’s high-octane World Cup 2023 match against India at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The slow left-armer bowled a tossed-up delivery, which drifted it from the leg side before it went to hit the top of the off-stump.

Batting on 23 off 24 balls, Gill, during the 11th over of India’s innings, was completely beaten by Maharaj’s flight. The ball had everything a spinner would have hoped for before releasing it, and Gill and the umpires could not believe their eyes what just happened in the middle.

On-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Paul Reiffel went for a double-check and asked third umpire Chris Brown to have a look at it again. The replay on the big screen confirmed that it was a clear dismissal, and thus, Gill had to walk back towards the pavilion.

Meanwhile, India are still in a commanding position against South Africa, courtesy of Rohit Sharma's flamboyant 24-ball 40 earlier in the innings. As of writing, the Men in Blue have reached 100/2 after 13.1 overs.
