BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Extends Birthday Wishes To Virat Kohli

Elite Indian batsman Virat Kohli turned 35 on November 5, and the cricketer has been receiving much adulations from all corners of the sporting fraternity. Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has himself written a heartfelt birthday tribute for the Indian batting master and posted the same on X (formerly Twitter).

BCCI secretary and President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah has extended his wishes for Virat Kohli on the latter’s 35th birthday. Taking to the micro-blogging site, Shah described Kohli as a distinguished batsman and an inspirational leader, and also hailed his panache for upholding sporting values and for setting up new fitness standards.

The BCCI official concluded his post by wishing the cricketer to keep setting new records and inspiring newer generations in his coming years. He wrote:

“Extending heartfelt birthday wishes to the cricketing maestro, Virat Kohli! Your monumental contributions to Indian cricket have left an indelible mark, surpassing records and expectations. As a distinguished batsman, an inspirational leader, a fitness trendsetter, and a paragon of sportsmanship, you've redefined the game. May you continue to set new records, spreading joy and inspiring generations!”

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli himself will be celebrating his birthday alongside his teammates during India’s World Cup 2023 match against South Africa. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata, also the venue for the blockbuster showdown, has already made several arrangements to commemorate Kohli’s 35th birthday.

The Indian batting legend has been in scintillating touch with the bat off late for Team India, driving them to emphatic wins over Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand by coming up clutch in tight run-chases. His batting form, alongside Rohit Sharma’s powerplay bombardment, have ensured that the Indian team remained unbeaten in their first seven fixtures of the tournament.
