Shreyas Iyer took an excellent sharp catch at short mid-wicket to help Mohammed Siraj draw first blood for India on Sunday during their highly anticipated World Cup 2023 clash against New Zealand in Dharamsala.

In the process, Devon Conway fell for a nine-ball duck, something which we don't often see on the field.

It happened during the fourth over of New Zealand’s innings when Mohammed Siraj bowled a fullish delivery to Conway towards his pads. Conway, having played eight consecutive dots until then, tried to break the shackles and smacked an impressive shot through the leg side with sheer timing.

However, the ball went straight to Iyer, although at an extreme pace. The stylish middle-order batter did not fail to catch it, as he kept his composure to complete an incredibly sharp grab.

Having been asked to bat, New Zealand wanted Conway to get them off to an ideal start on a batting-friendly surface in Dharamsala. However, it did not happen, as Conway began to walk back to the pavilion after a rare failure.

Needless to say, Shreyas, as well as other India members including Virat Kohli, were pumped after that catch.
