Khulna Tigers' explosive finisher Mahidul Islam Ankon had a memorable outing in the recently concluded BPL 2024-25 match against Chittagong Kings. Coming at number six, Mahidul slammed a flamboyant unbeaten knock of 59 runs, ensuring a 200-plus total for his team.
During his 22-ball stay, Mahidul hammered six huge maximums, but his outrageous helicopter shot off Shoriful Islam grabbed the fans' attention. The incident occurred during the 19th over of the Tigers' innings when Mahidul was trying to ensure a fitting finish for his team in the high-voltage contest.
After conceding a boundary off his first ball, Bangladesh's ace pacer Shoriful Islam tried to cramp Mahidul for room by bowling a yorker. However, Mahidul used the depth of the crease beautifully, shuffling across and converting it into a low full toss.
As a result, he managed to get his bat underneath the ball and dispatch it over the long-on for a picturesque six. His incredible six reminded fans of legendary Indian batter MS Dhoni, who is considered as the founder of the helicopter shot.
Mahidul finished his innings with 59 runs off 22 deliveries, powering Khulna Tigers to 203 in 20 overs.
