Ever since picking up an injury, Shaheen Afridi meant business, whether it was with bat or ball. However, in recent times, the 23-year-old speedster has been massively criticized due to his lack of pace and inconsistency with the ball in hand.

As Shaheen’s first full-time assignment as Pakistan’s T20I captain is going on in New Zealand, things became bad to worse for the Men in Green on Sunday (January 14) as they suffered a 21-run defeat in Hamilton during the second T20I of the five-match series.

Yet Shaheen did as much as he could, first with the ball and then with the bat. More significantly, his batting took a lot of attention, courtesy of smashing two sixes and a boundary in a brisk knock of 13-ball 22. However, it was not enough to take his side past the finishing line.

Adam Milne, who was at his very best on Sunday, got the big wicket of Shaheen during the 19th over of the innings. The right-arm quick took the pace off the ball to deceive Shaheen, who went down the ground in an attempt to slam another six. The off-pace delivery only resulted in him finding a huge top edge before Tim Southee kept his calm to take an absolute beauty of a catch.
