Pakistan's veteran batter Babar Azam showcased his acrobatic fielding skills, holding on to a magnificent catch and helping Shaheen Afridi dismiss Matthew Short in the second One-Day International of the ongoing three-match series at Adelaide Oval. After getting rid of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Shaheen also dismissed Short, ensuring a flying start for the visitors in this must-win affair.

The incident occurred during the seventh over of Australia's innings when Short was trying to steady the ship alongside the legendary Steve Smith following Jake Fraser-McGurk's dismissal. Fraser-McGurk, who looked in rhythm during his brief stay, was trapped plumb in front by Shaheen's lethal in-swinger. The in-form fast bowler soon jolted the hosts with another massive setback, sending Matthew Short packing.

However, it was Babar Azam's sharp catch that received massive applause from the cricket fraternity. From over the wicket, Shaheen bowled an ordinary short-of-good-length delivery, which Short could've put away with ease. However, as the right-handed batter played it in the air, he couldn't clear Babar Azam, who flew towards his right to take a sharp catch.

Australia In A Spot Of Bother In 2nd ODI

Riding on Shaheen's twin strikes, Pakistan have pushed Australia on the back foot in the penultimate affair in Adelaide. The left-arm pacer used the freshness of the pitch, keeping the Aussie batters on their toes.

After Short's departure, keeper-batter Josh Inglis joined Steve Smith in the middle. At the time of writing, Australia were 59 for two in ten overs, with Smith and Inglis batting on 12* and 14*, respectively.
