Afghanistan's legendary all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is all set to announce his retirement from One-Day International cricket. The upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan will be the veteran cricketer's swan song in the 50-over format.
Mohammad Nabi To Hang Up His Boots From ODIs
According to Cricbuzz, Mohammad Nabi will bid adieu to ODIs after participating in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. Afghanistan Cricket Board's CEO Naseeb Khan confirmed his retirement, revealing he would continue to represent the country in the T20 Internationals.
"Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he informed the board about his desire. He told me few months back that he wants to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, what I understand is that, he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now," Naseeb was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Mohammad Nabi's ODI Career
A hard-hitting batter who can also bamboozle the batters with his wily off-spin bowling, Nabi has been the linchpin of Afghanistan over the years. Apart from scoring 3549 runs, including two centuries and 17 fifties, Nabi has 171 wickets under his belt in 165 ODI appearances. Although he's on the wrong side of the thirties, the veteran cricketer continues to be an asset for the Afghan team and could play a handy role in the Champions Trophy.

Mohammad Nabi showcased red-hot form in the first ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Bangladesh in the UAE. As Afghanistan lost half of their side for 71 runs, the experienced campaigner struck a belligerent 79-ball 84, playing a pivotal role in the hosts' clinical win. Now, as he has confirmed his retirement, he must be keen to give his best before signing off from the format.
