Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi stole the limelight with a sensational six during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 clash against Quetta Gladiators at Lahore on Monday. Known predominantly for his lethal bowling, Afridi turned heads with an unexpected display of batting brilliance reminiscent of his father-in-law, the legendary Shahid Afridi.

PSL 2024: Shaheen Afridi channeled inner Shahid Afridi with a huge six

The memorable moment unfolded in the dying stages of the Qalandars' innings, with Shaheen Afridi stepping up to the crease at No. 8. With the crowd already electrified in excitement, the atmosphere reached its peak on the fourth delivery of the 18th over.

Facing Mohammad Hasnain, Afridi made cleared his front leg to meet a full-length off-cutter. Demonstrating remarkable power and timing, he launched the ball over cow corner for a massive six, leaving the spectators in awe and the commentators praising his audacity.

The crowd's roaring approval highlighted the significance of the shot, not just for its contribution to the scoreboard but as a proof of Afridi's versatile talent. Despite his brief cameo, scoring 12 runs off just 8 balls before succumbing to Mohammad Wasim Jr, Afridi's explosive six was a highlight reel moment.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Lahore Qalandars opted to bat first, setting the stage for a competitive total. Sahibzada Farhan, opening the innings, laid a solid foundation with a significant contribution of 62 off 43 balls while the middle order faltered.

However, it was Jahandad Khan's rapid, unbeaten 45 off 17 balls that truly propelled the Qalandars to a commendable total of 187/7 in their 20 overs.

Bowlers Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Hasnain both managed to claim two wickets each. This match holds particular significance for the Qalandars, who will be eager to rebound after a loss against Islamabad United in the PSL 2024 opener.

On the other hand, Quetta Gladiators, having won their first game, face the challenging task of chasing down the massive target set by the Qalandars.
