In the currently underway ICC World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, a significant turning point has occurred with the dismissal of Pathum Nissanka. This dismissal  proved to be a game-changer, as it halted a promising partnership between Sri Lankan batters.

Shadab Khan, the Pakistani spinner, was the architect behind this pivotal moment. In the 17th over of the match, Khan delivered a delivery that was short and wide outside off. Nissanka, who had been in good form and had just crossed the fifty-run mark, attempted to cut the ball away for runs. However, to his dismay, he only managed to find the point fielder, who was positioned perfectly for the catch.

Shafique, the fielder at point, made no mistake, taking a comfortable catch. With Nissanka's departure, Sri Lanka lost their second wicket, and the partnership that had been flourishing came to an abrupt end at 107 runs in the 18th over.
