Netherlands' skipper Scott Edwards led by example for his side on Friday (October 6) in their World Cup 2023 opener against Pakistan at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The Dutch wicket-keeper batsman took an excellent low diving catch to dismiss Pakistan's dangerous Iftikhar Ahmed, who was batting on 9 off 11 balls.

It was the last ball of the 32nd over by Bas de Leede, which was a normal short delivery without much movement. However, Iftikhar was too lazy to play it, as his feet did not move much while trying to poke it.

The ball only got a thin outside edge off Iftikhar's bat before Edwards grabbed a superb diving catch to end Pakistan finisher's stay.

While Iftikhar was disappointed to lose his wicket in that manner, Bas de Leede was delighted to see his skipper step up for his success. Even every Dutch batter came to their captain to congratulate him, as Edwards had a big smile on his face after taking a stunning catch.

Earlier, Pakistan lost their top three -- Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, and Babar Azam -- inside the Powerplay after Edwards asked them to bat first. At the time of writing, Pakistan are 210/6 in 37.5 overs, with Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz in middle, on 15* and 12* respectively.
