The shorter the format, the more quickly the game changes and exactly that has happened in The Hundred 2024 final between Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles. Brave were cruising towards the target with just 49 needed off 29 balls and seven wickets in hand, but Saqib Mahmood picked three wickets in the matter of just seven batters to bring Oval right back in the game.

The first of those wickets of Leus Du Plooy on the 72nd ball and the next one was of even bigger batter, Kieron Pollard. He departed on a duck. The next ball was a single, and on the 78th ball, Laurie Evans too departed. It was a length delivery on off and Evans tried to drive it, but played it early, and ended up hitting it straight to Dawid Malan.

Second Hundred Title For Oval Invincibles

They could not recover from these triple blows, and eventually fell short by 17 runs with Adam Zampa also picking two crucial wickets. It is the second consecutive Hundred title for Oval Invincibles, and the kind of comeback they have made in this final speaks a lot about the quality and belief in their ranks.
