Mitchell Santner is a real 3-D player and can change the complexion of the game with his bowling, batting and even fielding. In the Hundred 2024 game between Northern Superchargers and London Spirit at Headingley, he showed all of his fielding skills when he pulled off an unbelievable backward running catch to get rid of Michael Pepper.

It was the 11th ball of the match and Reece Topley bowled it full and on middle. Pepper hit it with a straight blade, and did not time it perfectly. However, he had enough wood on it to take it over the mid on region. Mitchell Santner though had other plans, he sprinted backwards, keeping his eyes on the ball till the last moment, positioned himself sidewards to the ball and then dived in the end to pull off one of the catches of the season.

That wicket was followed by two more wickets of Daniel Lawrence and Keaton Jennings, and Northern Superchargers were reduced to 35-3 at the end of 25 balls with Reece Topley picking two wickets and Potts batting an important scalp of London Spirit skipper.
