DC debutant Gulbadin Naib began impressively for his team in the 56th match of the IPL 2024 against the Rajasthan Royals at the iconic Arun Jaitely Stadium on Monday (May 6). The Afgan batting all-rounder was seen all pumped up as he smashed one six and one four. 

However, Naib's promising start was abruptly halted by the relentless Trent Boult. Naib managed a useful 19 runs before falling victim to Boult's persistent hunt for a wicket.


Naib entered the crease at no 7, replacing Rishabh Pant. The incident occurred in the 19th over of the match when Boult broke the partnership between Naib and Stubbs. It was a Length delivery by Boult, angling across, outside off.

The Afghan star batter threw his bat at it and ended up getting a thick outside edge, which went straight into the hands of Ashwin stationed at short third.

Earlier, DC were invited to bat first against the visitors. Jake Fraser McGurk and Abhishek Porel unleashed an onslaught, propelling Delhi Capitals to a strong start. The innings concluded with Delhi contigent posting a mammoth total of 221 against Sanju Samson's RR.
