The third ODI between South Africa and Pakistan is underway at the Wanderers Stadium. The hosts won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. The decision turned out to be a masterstroke as they struck on the 2nd ball of the innings.
Notably, Kagiso Rabada got rid of Abdullah Shafique for a two-ball duck. Meanwhile, in-form Saim Ayub was unfazed by the wicket as he played a classic cover drive for a four on the second ball he faced.
On the 2nd ball of the 3rd over, Ayub played a beautiful shot off Kagiso Rabada that raced through the covers for a boundary. Watch the shot here.
Saim Ayub In Form Of His Life
Saim Ayub is in the form of his life as he started the ODI series with a century. He smashed 109 (119) in the first ODI. Further, it came after he was stranded on an unbeaten 98 in the 3rd and final T20I match.
The ongoing match is a dead rubber match for both teams as Pakistan have already clinched the series after winning the first two games. At the time of writing this article, rain has played a spoilsport, as the match is halted and Pakistan have put 10/1 on the board after 3.1 overs.
While Ayub is in form, Pakistan are sweating hard over Abdullah Shafique's form as he registered his third duck vs South Africa in this ODI series. Further, it was Shafique's 7th duck in ODIs in 2024, which is a major concern.
