Bangladesh and West Indies are playing against each other in the first T20I of the three match series. This match is being played at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, West Indies.
West Indies won the toss for this game and put Bangladesh to bat. Akeal Hosein responced to the call of the skipper and rocked the visitors early with two wickets. The misery continued for Bangladesh as they lost Afif Hossain soon and were struggling at 30/3 within the powerplay.
It was at this stage, Jaker Ali joined Soumya Sarkar in the middle and the duo stabilised things for their team. The duo stitched a patrnership of 57 runs and weathered the storm. Just when it was looking that this partnership will take Bangladesh towards a formidable total, Rovman Powell came up with a brilliant catch to break the partnership.
Romario Shepherd Took A Brilliant Catch In The Deep
On the fourth delivery of the 13th over, Romario Shepherd bowled a low full toss outside the off stump. Jaker Ali shuffled across the stumps and went for the big hit over long-on. He did not get the connection right and the ball went high up in the air. Powell in the deep showed great balance at the boundary and took a stunning catch to send Jaker back to the hut.
He took the catch and realised that he will go over the ropes. Thus he release the ball and went over the ropes, then came back inside the rope to complete the catch. The catch by Powell reminded the fans of Suryakumar Yadav's iconic catch in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. The catch of David Miller that ultimately played a major role in India winning the trophy.
