[Watch] Romario Shepherd Bamboozles England With End-Overs Assault

Romario Shepherd's memorable end-overs assault proved too good for England's inexperienced pace attack in the opening match of the ODI series in Antigua on Sunday (December 3).

The West Indies all-round cricketer hammered the English line-up to all parts of the ground in his team's ultimately successful run-chase and ended with an exceptional innings of 49 off just 28 deliveries.

With the Calypso Kings striving to hunt down three Lions in a stiff run-chase of 326 on a dryish surface at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Shepherd provided excellent support to skipper and centurion Shai Hope with his magnificent knock down at No.7.

As the equation began to slip out of the home team's grasp and the required run-rate reached over 10, Shepherd unveiled a brutal attacking game against England's second-string pace battery and smashed them for four fours and three maximums during his match-winning stint.

Romario Shepherd's memorable end-overs blitz

Shepherd's enterprising blitz made the final 10 overs of the run-chase a great watch for cricket lovers tuning on live stream and at the iconic ground in Antigua, which was filled with shocked English supporters, who stood in disbelief as West Indies pulverised their men on the park.

Shepherd was severe on anything too full and too short, standing deep inside his crease to get the best sighter of the length on offer from England seamers Sam Curran, Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse.

Having rested their incumbents to approach a fresh era in white-ball cricket following the disastrous ICC World Cup 2023 campaign in India, England would've faced a harsh reminder of their lack of depth in the bowling department, especially in their pace arsenal.

Once Shepherd pushed on the accelerator, the likes of Curran, Atkinson and Carse had absolutely no idea how to put a leash on the scoring and eventually succumbed to the pressure and the intimidation of the limited-overs maverick.
