Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah led India’s fightback with the ball against England in their high-profile World Cup 2023 showdown in Lucknow. The two speedsters removed half of England’s top five on their own as the defending champions faltered while chasing India’s 229 in their must-win game.

After Shami entrapped Moeen Ali to jolt England further at 81-6, Indian veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were spotted celebrating the triumphant moment with an enthusiastic hug.

A jubilant Indian captain Rohit Sharma and an equally over-enthusiastic Virat Kohli were spotted sharing a hug after Mohammed Shami removed England’s dangerman Moeen Ali from the middle.

The two senior Indian cricketers basked themselves in glory as England sank further in their run-chase.

Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma led India’s run-scoring charge with a calculated 87. The dashing opener launched 10 boundaries and three sixes to take India towards a competitive total after they had slumped to 40-3 inside their first 12 overs.

Virat Kohli was one of the cheap casualties of India’s top-order collapse as he was dismissed for a duck at the hands of David Willey. Some handy late runs from Jasprit Bumrah, coupled with middle-order contributions from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav ultimately guided Team India to 229.
