Jacob Bethell is one of the rising stars in world cricket and has recently made debut across formats for England. He first displayed his talent in white-ball cricket and also grabbed an IPL contract from RCB for IPL 2025. He is a batting all-rounder, and is mainly known for his quality strokeplay. However, he is a handy left-arm spinner too, and now in the third Test against New Zealand, he picked his maiden wicket in the format.
He got three wickets in the innings, and the first of those wickets was of well-set Daryl Mitchell. The right-handed batter who is known for his consistency scored 60 off 84 balls in the second innings of the third Test, but lost his wicket in a bid to hit one over the fence.
Jacob Bethell Shows His Bowling Skills
It was the fifth ball of the 88th over and Bethell bowled it full on leg from 'round the wicket. Mitchell tried to go inside out, but ended up hitting it bit squarer than he wanted and Matthew Potts took a fine catch at wide long off. He fell down while taking the catch, but somehow managed to pull off an Undertaker style rise-up as soon as he took the catch.
It was a much-needed wicket for England and from 375-5, New Zealand were bowled out for 453. They are in a driver's seat though and going into day 4, England need 640 to win with eight wickets in hand.
