Rassie van der Dussen, fresh from his match-winning century against Sri Lanka in South Africa’s opening World Cup 2023 match in Delhi, continued his fine-tuning with the bat against Australia in Lucknow.

The burly right-hander launched confident boundaries upfront, including a scorching cover-drive off Mitchell Starc to signal yet another solid start to his innings this tournament. In doing so, Rassie completed 2,000 runs in his ODI career, reaching the milestone figure in just his 45th innings.

Rassie van der Dussen bludgeoned a match-winning 108 against Sri Lanka to become one of South Africa’s three centurions from the match. In his very next outing against Australia, the 34-year-old shared another notable partnership with Proteas opener Quinton de Kock, after arriving to the crease in the 20th over of the innings.

Both Rassie and Quinton shared 50 runs for the second wicket from 53 balls, during which both batters attained significant batting milestones. While the dashing opener charted his second successive 2023 World Cup century, the prolific number three completed 2000 runs for his ODI batting profile.

Mere moments after achieving the landmark, Rassie van der Dussen mistimed one off Adam Zampa to make his way back to the pavilion for 26. Quinton de Kock also followed suite a while later after scoring a well-crafted 109.

Their dismissals paved way for Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram into the crease as South Africa aim to mount their second successive 300-plus total this World Cup 2023 and their fourth successive such score against Australia in the past one month.
