Continuing his sublime form, South African keeper-batter Quinton de Kock hammered a scintillating fifty to ensure a great start for his side in the ongoing World Cup clash against Australia. The swashbuckling southpaw took on the Australian bowlers right from the word go, helping South Africa gain an early advantage in this match. Although De Kock played several delightful shots, his twin sixes off Josh Hazlewood received massive applause.

The incident occurred in the 23rd over of the innings when skipper Pat Cummins turned up to ace pacer Josh Hazlewood to break the stand between De Kock and Rassie van der Dussen. However, the veteran player disappointed his side, conceding 17 runs in the over.

After keeping it tight in the first four balls, Hazlewood delivered two poor balls down the leg, with De Kock dispatching them for huge sixes over the fine leg and square leg fence.

After being put into bat first, South Africa had a dream start to their innings, with De Kock and Temba Bavuma adding 108 runs for the first wicket. Glenn Maxwell drew the first blood for Australia, dismissing Bavuma; however, Van der Dussen and De Kock continued the onslaught on the Aussies. As a result, the Proteas are in the driving seat, placed at 156 for one in 28 overs as of writing.
