A celebration for a successful catch unfurled a hilarious incident in a European Cricket game. With a penchant for providing some of the most entertaining moments in the game of the cricket, the European competition has established its own niche in the cricketing spectrum.
On January 5, the official social media account of European Cricket uploaded an archival footage of a certain fielder celebrating his catch in a manner that ended up ‘hurting’ one of his nearby teammates.
Celebration goes awry for a fielding teammate
In match number 40 of the ECS Czechia back in June 2024, Bohemians were left to chase 163 runs against Prague CC in a 10-over game. In a bid to take the attack to the Prague bowlers from the outset, blistering Bohemians opener Sazib Bhuiyan thwacked Sudesh Wickramasekara in an attempt to bring up an early boundary in the run-chase.
However, Bhuiyan merely managed to top-edge the ball towards Prague fielder Ravikumar Solanki well inside the boundary ropes to make his way back to the sheds for just eight runs from five balls.
As it turned out, Ravikumar Solanki celebrated the catch by throwing it back on the ground. However, in doing so, the cricketer accidentally hurt his nearby teammate to ignite a laugh riot among his teammates and in the commentary box.
In spite of the minor injury scare in the middle, Prague players had much to celebrate later in the day as they defeated the Bohemians by 39 runs.
For Prague, opening batter Sharan Ramakrishnan unleashed the innings of the match with a sizzling 71-run knock from just 27 balls. Ramakrishnan’s opening partner Sabawoon Davizi also clobbered four boundaries and five sixes in his 19-ball half-century as Prague mounted 162-3. Later in the game, Prague bowlers restricted the Bohemians to just 123-5 from their 10 overs.
