Australian captain Pat Cummins got the better of Babar Azam once again, trapping him leg before wicket in the first innings of ongoing third Test between Australia and Pakistan in Sydney.

The dismissal took place during the 11th over of the morning session on Day 1. After bowling a bag full of deliveries in the line of outside off-stump from the good length, Cummins bowled one on the full in the fourth delivery of the over which swung in sharply to hit the front pad of Babar, while he tried to flick it on the leg-side.

However, there were two noises and the umpires forced the Australians to go upstairs. Following the DRS reviewing, it was confirmed that the ball hit the pad first, which went on to hit the stumps in ball-tracking and the third umpire had to reverse the on-field decision.

The crowd erupted as the home side celebrated in delight after getting the prized wicket of Babar, who looked in total disbelief. This is the third time Cummins got the wicket of Pakistan’s ace batter in the series. The ex-Pakistani skipper had a brilliant start but the Aussie attack made sure he didn't do any major damage.

Babar's string of low scores continued. The dynamic right-hander looked in great touch this morning but failed to convert it into a big score for the nth time in this tour.

Earlier in the day, after electing to bat first, Pakistan lost both the openers in the very first two overs. Mitchell Starc got Abdullah Shafique in the very second delivery of the innings which was followed by the wicket of 21-year debutant Saim Ayub, who edged one through to the keeper for a two-ball duck.

Shan Masood, alongside Babar Azam, started the reconstruction job and just when Pakistan were looking back in control, the Aussie struck them with two more wickets in quick succession. Pakistan went to lunch with 4 down and 75 on the board.

At the time of writing this Pakistan lost two more wickets after Lunch, including the well set Shan Masood. However, keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan batted with a positive approach from the beginning and completed his half century in 74 balls.
