Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq cleaned up UAE opener Aryan Lakra and trapped number three Vriitya Aravind off successive deliveries in the third T20I of their three-match series in Sharjah. The speedster also accounted for the wickets of Tanish Suri and Akif Raja to finish his four-over spell with career-best figures of 4-20.

Afghanistan cricketer Naveen-ul-Haq, after going wicketless in his side’s 11-run defeat to hosts UAE at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on December 31, registered his career-best T20I figures of 4-20 in his following outing at the same venue.

The 24-year-old wrecked UAE’s top-order by striking early in his opening over of the match. He shattered Aryan Lakra’s stumps before trapping Vriitya Aravind in front for a first-ball duck in the first two balls of his spell, thus restricting UAE to just 126-9 off their 20 overs upfront.

Prior to Afghanistan’s three-match T20I series against UAE, Naveen-ul-Haq represented his country at the 2023 World Cup in India. The cricketer claimed eight wickets in the tournament and provided much assistance to his bowling teammates as Afghanistan secured their best World Cup run yet.

The speedster was also retained by the Lucknow Super Giants franchise later in November, prior to the IPL 2024 auction in UAE. The LSG management made further additions to their line-up during the IPL 2024 auction on December 19.

The lanky fast bowler made his IPL debut back in 2022 for the LSG before he was retained by them for the subsequent two seasons.
