Perth Scorchers will host Adelaide Strikers in Match 25 of the ongoing BBL 2023-24, on Wednesday, January 3. The enthralling contest will take place at the home of the Scorchers, the Perth Stadium in Western Australia.

The defending champions are currently unbeaten in the competition and will be looking to sustain their good run in their next meeting with the struggling Adelaide Strikers, who will be coming into this match on the back of three successive defeats.

SCO vs STR: Team Previews

Perth Scorchers

The Scorchers have continued their dominance in this edition as they have won three of the four games they played so far with one fixture ending up with no result. As a result, they are placed third in the points table with seven points under their belt.

Stand-in skipper Aaron Hardie is leading the pack in some style, having scored two half centuries in the last two wins for the Scorchers. Beside that, they have some incredible power hitting in their line-up with players who can deliver under immense pressure for the side.

Jason Behrendorff is easily the biggest threat for the opposition, particularly at the home venue in Perth. The tall left-arm seamer has already claimed 8 wickets in three innings he bowled at a whopping strike rate of just 9.

Overall, a pretty solid unit, which will not be easy to roll over by anyone at this moment. In addition, the men in orange have won four of their last five outings against the Strikers and will be looking to continue their dominance over them.

Adelaide Strikers

Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers started their campaign with a win but have not been able to recover since falling one short against Sydney Sixers before the Christmas break, which was followed by two more defeats to make it three losses in a row. As a result, the Strikers are currently placed 6th in the standings with 3 points after 5 games.

They have a solid team on paper but the bowling is not really coming off for them at the moment. They have an in-form top three, featuring Matthew Short, D’Arcy Short and the veteran Chris Lynn at number three, which mostly fire to keep the Strikers in a strong position.

However, it's the bowling which looks a little thin at the moment, having failed to defend the target in the last two games.  In their last fixture, Melbourne Stars handed them their third defeat on the trot by taking down a mammoth 206-run target with one over to spare.

Ahead of this game, the Strikers desperately need their bowling to come good and help the team to regain their winning form before it's too late. In team news, David Payne is available for the Strikers after missing the last game.

SCO vs STR: Perth Stadium, Pitch Report

The surface at the famous Perth Stadium has been assisting the seam bowlers as usual with extra bounce and pace on offer throughout the game. The spinners have equally enjoyed bowling here in the middle overs. However, the batters can also score runs after settling down and get value for their shots. Overall, a balanced wicket, with another close T20 game on offer. Team winning the toss should be bowling first to get the maximum advantage.
