Pakistan fielding standards has gone down over the years and they showcased it once again during the first ODI against the New Zealand side on Saturday. They dropped a couple of sitters but the highlight of the day was their schoolboy fielding during the New Zealand batting.
New Zealand were put into bat and Pakistan had the upper hand as the team knocked over 3 Kiwi wickets for a score of just 50. However, what transpired was the cleanest hitting of them all as Daryl Mitchell and Pakistan's nemesis, Mark Chapman tore down the Pakistan bowling attack.

They also put the pressure on the fielders with quick running and in one instances, Pakistan fielding allowed them to convert a single two three runs. Chapman played a shot near the vacant point region and quickly scampered for a single. However, the fielder from the deep was slow to react as he fired in a throw at the non strikers end with no one backing up.
The ball once again went in the no man's land as the Kiwi duo ran for another run and this time, Mohammad Rizwan failed to collect the ball as the duo ran another run. They had a chance to sneak in another run, but decided against it.
Pakistan go down despite Babar Azam's valiant effort
Pakistan needed a mammoth 345 to win the first ODI in Napier and despite a decent start, they lost a flurry of wickets. Babar Azam then forged a partnership with Rizwan and looked all set to reach his 20th ODI century before beging dismissed for 78.
Agha Salman then produced a quick-fire innings but wickets continued to tumble as the visitors got bundled out for 271.
