Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya will not participate in the opening matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 31-year-old last played a 50-over match on October 19, 2023, against Bangladesh in Pune. According to News 18 reports, Pandya has conveyed his schedule to the Baroda team and plans to join them later in the tournament.

Since making his List A debut in 2014, Pandya has established himself as a vital player with 2,103 runs and 100 wickets in 107 matches. Despite missing the initial games, he remains eager to play in this premier domestic one-day competition and contribute to Baroda’s campaign.

Hardik Pandya's Performance in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Hardik Pandya was in action during the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. The right-handed batter showcased his brilliance by scoring 246 runs in 7 innings with an outstanding strike rate of 193.70. He crossed the 50-run mark twice, stayed unbeaten in two matches, and smashed 17 fours and 20 sixes throughout the tournament.

Hardik’s performance wasn’t limited to batting. He impressed with the ball as well, taking 6 wickets in 5 innings.

Team Baroda's Group-Stage Matches

Baroda, led by Hardik’s brother Krunal Pandya, has been placed in Group E of the tournament. All their group-stage matches will take place in Hyderabad, beginning on December 21. The team’s opening game is scheduled against Tripura at the Gymkhana Ground, followed by a match against Kerala on December 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Baroda’s remaining group matches are set for December 28, 31, January 3, and January 5, where they will face Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi, respectively.
