West Indies' experienced batter Nicholas Pooran registered rare failure with the bat, as he was dismissed cheaply in the final dead-rubber of the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Coming at number four, Pooran managed only 15 runs before Mahedi Hasan cleaned him up at a crucial juncture of the match.
The incident occurred during the sixth over of West Indies' innings when Pooran was trying to steady the ship with Johnson Charles. Bangladesh captain Litton Das' tactical move to bring Mahedi into the attack paid rich dividends, as the in-form spinners got rid of Pooran, who was looking dangerous.
From around the wicket, Mahedi bowled a short of good length delivery which Nicholas Pooran tried to dispatch into the mid-wicket stand with a pull shot. However, as the ball was not short enough, he missed it completely and got cleaned up in this process.
Thus, Pooran, who was expected to play an impactful knock for the hosts, departed for 15 runs. Interestingly, the batter stood his ground even after getting bowled, as he couldn't believe his dismissal off a harmless delivery.
Romario Shepherd Joins Hands With Gudakesh Motie
After Pooran's dismissal, West Indies lost Rovman Powell and Roston Chase in quick succession. However, experienced all-rounder Romario Shepherd has joined hands with Gudakesh Motie, steadily powering the hosts towards the target. At the time of writing, West Indies were 90 for six in 13 overs, still needing 100 runs off 42 balls to win this game.
