Dipendra Singh Airee, the 24-year-old all-rounder from Nepal, made history earlier this year by smashing six sixes while facing Qatar in the ACC Men's T20I Premier Cup clash in Al Amerat.

Unsurprisingly, expectations were high when he walked into the middle for Nepal once again on Tuesday (June 4) when they met the Netherlands in Match 7 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. He, however, failed to make an impression, falling after scoring 1 off six balls before Bas de Leede sent him packing.

De Leede bowled a beautiful delivery to find Dipendra’s edge during the 11th over of Nepal’s innings. The ball went straight into the hands of Logan Van Beek, who was perfectly placed at first slip.

No wonder Nepalese fans were disappointed in the stands, while one of them was seen crying while holding the country's flag close to his face.

Nepal, meanwhile, finished on 106 after 19.2 overs, with skipper Rohit Paudel top-scoring with a 37-ball 35. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek impressed the most, returning figures of 3/18 off his 3.2 overs.
