Team India have got a disastrous start to their first innings of the ongoing first Test match against South Africa in Centurion. After being put into bat first, India lost skipper Rohit Sharma in the fifth over before Nandre Burger's lethal spell brought the visitors down on their knees.

Opening the batting, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings cautiously before the former threw his wicket by miscuing a hook shot. On the other hand, Jaiswal looked promising and nailed a few glorious boundaries, eventually being dismissed by Burger.

The left-arm seamer continued his onslaught on the visitors, removing Gill nine balls later, albeit with a nothing delivery.

It was a good length delivery that jagged back into Gill, going down the leg side. The Punjab batter attempted for a leg glance only to edge it straight to the keeper. However, the umpire declared Gill not out, following which the Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma went upstairs.

The third umpire found a genuine edge off Gill's bat in the replay, asking the on-field umpire to overturn his decision. As a result, Burger got his second wicket, with Gill departing for two runs.

As of writing, India are tottering at 42 for three, with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer batting on 7* and 9*, respectively.
