[Watch] Mukesh Kumar's Maiden Test Draws Blood For India; Rain Follows Up on Day 3

India's debutant, Mukesh Kumar, got rewarded with his maiden Test wicket in the first session of the third day as Kirk McKenzie went back to the hut after a gritty partnership with his captain Kraigg Brathwaite. Interestingly, as soon as the debutant broke the first wicket of the day for India, the rain gods started to shower at Queen's Park Oval on Saturday, to push the pause button for a while.

On a pitch that has nothing for the faster bowlers, Mukesh kept bowling the tight lines and lengths, making the left-handed McKenzie knick it behind to the keeper, Ishan Kishan.

Responding to India’s mighty first innings total, the Windies batters decided to back their defences, which in hindsight worked as a charm for them thus far in the innings. McKenzie, alongside Brathwaite, started the day positively, as they took calculative risks against Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammed Siraj in the first half an hour of the day.

Unfortunately, the southpaw - who played some expansive shots earlier in the day - couldn’t stamp his authority against Mukesh’s nip-backer delivery.

Nevertheless, the home team has pulled off a brilliant effort in the Port of Spain Test as the scorecard reads 117 for the loss of two wickets after 51.4 overs.

Earlier in the Test, Virat Kohli’s 29th Test century and half-centuries from Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin helped the visitors post a mammoth total of 438 runs.

At the time of writing, the Windies are trailing by 321 runs. Meanwhile, the rain has stopped at Trinidad, and the play will restart at 9:40 PM IST after an early lunch was taken.
