The Purani Dilli-6 are up against the East Delhi Riders in the fifth match of the Delhi Premier League 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The East Delhi Riders won the toss in this game and opted to field first. 

Simarjeet Singh got the better of the Purani Dilli-6 top order

Simarjeet Singh, the prime bowler of the East Delhi tested the Purani Dilli batter early in the innings with a lethal spell. He picked up the first three wickets of the Purani Dilli and put them on the backfoot.

The three wickets of Simarjeet included that of Arpit Rana, Manjeet and Keshav Dalal. The pace bowler's spell was a high quality one is proved by the fact that two of the batters were bowled while one of them was trapped leg before wicket. 

Purani Dilli-6 failed to recover from the early set back that Simarjeet Singh gave them. Despite a lower-order fight back, all the Purani Dilli could manage was 142/8 in their 18 overs.

Simarjeet Singh has been a part of CSK since 2022

Notably, Simarjeet Singh has been a part of the Chennai Super Kings for the past three seasons in the IPL. He has played 10 matches under the leadership of MS Dhoni and has picked up nine wickets in them at an average of 28.78 and an economy of 8.63. For most part of his time with the Super Kings, he was used as a new ball bowlers. The show that Simarjeet Singh has put on in this game shows that his time with the IPL franchise groomed him well as a new ball bowler in the T20 format.
