Shivam Dube kept his chances to be in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad by slamming a 22-ball half-century on Tuesday in Match 39 of IPL 2024 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Chepauk. 

Dube entertained the home crowd with sixes galore, sending helpless LSG bowlers all around the park, and while reaching the landmark, even MS Dhoni clapped to laud the 30-year-old’s scintillating show.

The CSK all-rounder crossed the half-century mark during the 19th over of their innings. It was a slower ball outside the off-stump by Mohsin Khan, and Dube picked it perfectly before smashing a flat-batted six down the ground.

Dhoni, who later came and smashed a four off his only ball he faced during the match, could not control himself from applauding the onslaught.

CSK, after KL Rahul won the toss and asked LSG to bat first, rode on Ruturaj Gaikwad's impressive century to finish on 210/4. Dube too played a blistering knock to get there, as he got out after smashing 66 off just 27 deliveries.

It will be interesting to see whether KL Rahul and his boys can chase it down, given the dew factor coming into play at this venue more often than not.
