Riding on bowlers' exceptional performance, Afghanistan had a great day in the office in their ongoing World Cup clash against Sri Lanka. After skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi opted to bowl, the Afghanistan bowlers picked wickets at crucial junctures to prevent the Lankans from scoring big.

Besides Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan, Fazalhaq Farooqi had a fabulous outing, scalping four wickets in his ten-over spell. He began the onslaught by dismissing Dimuth Karunaratne in his first spell. Furthermore, the left-arm pacer showcased his death bowling skills towards the backend of the innings, ensuring a sub-par finish for the Lankan lions.

After castling Maheesh Theekshana with a well-targeted yorker, the experienced speedster got rid of Angelo Mathews, who was well set in the middle.

It was a slow delivery, as Mathews played an aerial shot, with the ball gobbling in the air for a long time.

While the veteran batter was hopeful of adding six runs to his tally, Mohammad Nabi had other ideas, as he grabbed a stunning catch to conclude Mathews' stay. The way he balanced himself along the boundary line spoke volumes of his incredible athleticism, earning him massive applause.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for an under-par 241-run total in 49.3 overs. Thus, Afghanistan need 242 runs to secure their third win of the World Cup and move up in the standings.
