Shaheen Afridi came an epic comeback to leave Heinrich Klaasen stunned on Tuesday in the first ODI of the three-match series in Paarl. The talismanic left-arm quick was delighted after the success, and in the process, the South African wicket-keeper had to return to the pavilion after an impressive 97-ball 86.

More importantly, the fact that Shaheen uprooted the middle stump made the dismissal look more gorgeous. Even Klaasen had no answer face it before slowly starting to walk off the field after a knock which had seven fours and two sixes. Notably, one of them came just before the wicket delivery.

It was Shaheen's first wicket of the day, and he has been chasing an unique record to reach new heights.

Talking about the match, South Africa got off to an excellent start. However, a fascinating spell from Salman Agha ended the momentum before Klaasen and stand-in skipper Aiden Markram steadied the ship. Tony de Zorzi and Ryan Rickelton made important contributions at the top, but both of them failed to convert them to a substantial one after 30s.

At the time of writing this, South Africa are 236/8 after 49 overs, with Ottneil Baartman and Kagiso Rabada in the middle. The hosts kept the Men in Green in bay in the recently-concluded T20I series, which they won by 2-0, but are now in a spot of bother in the 50-over tie.
