During the first ODI between South Africa and Pakistan, Haris Rauf found himself at the receiving end. As he dropped an easy catch of Marco Jansen, a few fan girls in the stands clapped and celebrated the fielding lapse, leaving Rauf embarrassed.

Pakistan was playing against South Africa in the first ODI of the three-game series on December 17 at Boland Park. Batting first, Salman Agha’s sensational spell left the host team stunned. He scalped a four-wicket-haul and left the top order in tatters.  Saim Ayub also chipped in with a crucial wicket of Protea captain Aiden Markram, with Kamran Ghulam picking an impressive catch.

Meanwhile, Abrar Ahmed deceived Marco Jansen with a fuller delivery on the middle and leg stump in the 40th over. Jansen went for a sweep but caught a top edge. The edge flew straight to Haris Rauf, who adjusted himself under the ball. Despite watching the ball the entire time, the pacer dropped an easy catch, leaving everyone stunned.

Meanwhile, South African fan girls seated in the stands embarrassed Haris Rauf by clapping and celebrating the moment as Jansen earned a second life. Besides the fielding lapse, the fast bowler also failed to impress with the ball. In five overs, he leaked 34 runs.

That being said, despite Salman Agha’s early carnage, Heinrich Klaasen led the rescue effort. He slammed a gritty half-century and is currently heading towards a well-deserved century.

For Pakistan, Salman Agha picked four wickets, and Abrar Ahmed picked two wickets.
