Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal was dismissed for a first-ball duck by his Khulna Tigers counterpart Mehidy Hasan Miraz in match number 30 of the BPL 2024-25 season at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday, January 22. Batting first, Iqbal failed to make the most of the pristine batting conditions on offer as he misread Mehidy Hasan’s turning delivery in the opening over of the match.

In spite of his early wicket, Fortune Barishal ended up winning the match by a close margin to register their third successive victory this BPL 2024-25 season.

Tamim Iqbal gone for a duck!

Bangladesh off-spinner and Khulna Tigers captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz bewildered Fortune Barishal skipper and former cricketer Tamim Iqbal off the first ball of the latter’s innings in match 30 of the BPL 2024-25 season.

After Towhid Hridoy took a single off the first ball of the match, his opening partner Tamim failed to read Mehidy Hasan’s turning delivery next up as the Fortune Barishal lost its first wicket for just a run on the board.

For the Khulna Tigers, captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up two more wickets later in the innings in the form of dangermen Dawid Malan and Towhid Hridoy to claim exceptional four-over figures of 3-35. Salman Irshad also picked up two wickets in the innings, but a cunning half-century from Mahmudullah and an explosive 19-ball 39 from Rishad Hossain catapulted the Fortune Barishal total to a competitive 167-9 from 20 overs.

In response, the Khulna Tigers managed just 160-6 to fall seven runs short of their target. Mohammad Naim top-scored in the run-chase with a sublime 77 from 59 balls. Captain Mehidy Hasan himself composed 33 runs off 29 balls but timely breakthroughs from Jahandad Khan (2-20), Mohammad Nabi (1-19) and Rishad Hossain (1-17) prevented Tigers’ late flourish.
