[Watch] Mehidy Hasan Miraz Bags Gill's Wicket With Mahmudullah's ‘Well-Judged’ Catch

Mehidy Hasan Miraz got the dangerous Shubman Gill's wicket on Thursday (October 19) during Bangladesh's World Cup 2023 match against India in Pune. 

The Bangladeshi all-rounder, who had to stage something special in Shakib Al Hasan's absence, bowled an excellent tossed-up delivery to get rid of the Indian opener, who scored his maiden half-century in the World Cups just before his dismissal.

However, the wicket would not have come had Mahmudullah not used his experience to complete an excellent judged catch near the boundary line.

During the 20th over of India’s innings, Miraz saw Gill coming down the track to smash him out of the park. The all-rounder dragged his length back, hence, and it worked perfectly. Gill did not get the elevation he was looking for, as the ball did not go out of the boundary ropes.

Placed at deep mid-wicket, Mahmudullah then used his wealth of experience to make a tough catch look simple. He was so close to the boundary ropes yet managed to keep his balance right to complete a clean catch.

As of writing, India, chasing 257, are in control, batting on 161/2 after 25 overs.
