In the ongoing match of the T20 World Cup 2024 between Canada and Ireland, the European side won the toss and asked the Men in Red to bat first. Canada, batting first, lost four early wickets, but Nicholas Kirton rose to the occasion and made a mark with the bat.

Kirton came to bat when Canada were 42/3 and stitched a 75-runs stand with Shreyas Movya for the 5th wicket. However, Barry McCarthy got the much-needed breakthrough for Ireland when he got rid of dangerous Kirton in the 19th over.

Nicholas Kirton was batting on 49 and was one run short of a half-century, which is when McCarthy bowled a lethal bouncer that left the right-hand batter clueless. The delivery found a top edge and the ball went up in the air while Andrew Balbirnie took a great catch as he also avoided a collision with keeper Lorcan Tucker.

It is the 2nd game for both the teams in this World Cup and both are looking for their first win of the tournament. Talking about Canada, they lost to USA in the opening match of this edition, while Ireland faced humiliation against India. 

As of writing, Ireland are struggling in the ongoing match as they have lost six wickets in the 138-run chase, with Gareth Dockrell and Mark Adair batting at the moment.
