Matt Henry, the star New Zealand pacer has injured himself while taking the catch of Heinrich Klaasen in the tense semifinal of Champions Trophy 2025. He hurt his shoulder as he dived forward and landed awkwardly on his shoulder as Heinrich Klaassen mistimed a shot to long on off the bowling of Santner.
Matt Henry's Injury Raises Concerns For New Zealand
The wicket was a big blow to South Africa in the match, but now it has put Matt Henry's participation in the rest of the tournament. The injury came on the fourth ball of the 29th over. Mitchell Santner bowled it fractionally short and Klaasen in his trademark style tried to pull it. He did not time it well and ended up hitting it towards long on.
Matt Henry ran forward and took a brilliant diving catch, but fell awkwardly on his right shoulder, and if the injury turns out to be serious, it could prove to be a big problem for the Kiwis. However, his catch was vital in the context of the game and it triggered a collapse as South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
New Zealand choked South Africa with their plethora of spinners and after an impressive batting performance in the first half, they have backed it up with a strong bowling performance. They would hope for Matt Henry to get fit for the final though as their ticket to Dubai look more or less confirmed after South Africa's batting failure.
