In what is turning out to be an electrifying World Cup 2023 clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, a moment stood out, not just for its significance in the game, but for its sheer emotion.

IND vs PAK: Hardik Pandya's passionate gesture precedes Imam-ul-Haq's wicket

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya made headlines not just for scalping the crucial wicket of Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq, but more so for the passion he showcased moments before the dismissal. Imam, after confidently driving Hardik for a boundary to deep point in the 13th over, seemed poised to build on. But Hardik had other plans.

Before delivering what would be a pivotal third ball of the over, Hardik, in a rare display of passion, was seen talking to the cricket ball. Mouthing the words 'Let’s do it', the spirited all-rounder dashed into his run-up.

What followed was proof of his commitment and skill. Bowling a wide, good-length delivery, he got the ball to seam away after pitching. Imam, attempting an expansive drive, only managed to get an outside edge.

Indian wicketkeeper, KL Rahul made no mistake as he snapped up a sharp catch, sending the Pakistani opener back to the pavilion for 36.

As fans and pundits tuned into the match, this particular sequence involving Hardik's animated pep talk to the ball swiftly gained traction on social media platforms, with many lauding his intensity and dedication.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing this article, the game is setting up nicely. Pakistan is at 75/2 after 14 overs, with seasoned Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan at the crease, hoping to lay down a solid foundation for a massive score.

The Indian side, riding high on confidence by their early breakthroughs, will be on the hunt to dismantle this partnership and make inroads into Pakistan’s lower-middle order.
