India have occupied the driving seat in their first World Cup game against Australia, thanks to a sensational performance from their spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. After Jadeja dismantled the Australian middle-order, dismissing Smith, Carey and Labuschagne, Kuldeep jolted the visitors with a massive blow, castling the dangerous Glenn Maxwell.

The incident occurred in the 36th over when Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green were forming a consolidating stand to stabilise the Australian innings.

After keeping it tight in the first four balls, Kuldeep bowled a leg break, which turned sharply from the off-stump line, uprooting Maxwell's leg stump.

Maxwell's wicket was priceless for India, given he has a reputation of ensuring fitting finish for the Aussies. After the swashbuckling all-rounder departed, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin scalped another important breakthrough, getting rid of Cameron Green through an exceptional carrom ball.

After opting to bat first, Australia recovered after a shaky start, courtesy of a fighting stand between David Warner and Steven Smith. However, a collapse was triggered with the dismissal of Warner, caught and bowled by Kuldeep Yadav.

As a result, the visitors fell like a pack of cards, tottering at 140 for seven in 37.4 overs, with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc batting on 1* and 0*, respectively.
