As India and Australia began their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign on Sunday in Chennai, the emotions were at the highest bar level. As the Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss against India, head coach Andrew McDonald was seen in an animated mood after getting the update from the centre.

The head coach - who was giving a pep talk to the team in a hurdle before the start of the game - could control his emotions and was seen punching in the air after the skipper signalled they had won the coin flip. Even Cummins and the team management members could not handle themselves and burst into laughter.

The current Aussie head coach has a strong resume in coaching. The former Australian all-rounder played 4 Test matches for his matches and close to 100 FC games for Victoria before getting into coaching, where he led teams like Perth Scorchers, Leicestershire, Australia U-19s, and men's teams.

McDonald took over Australia's head coach's job from former legendary opener Justin Langer and led the charge when they clinched the WTC title and levelled the Ashes in England.

Talking about the ongoing fixture against India, the Aussies are struggling with the bat on a slow-turner as their score is reading 140-6 after 36 overs. Apart from Steve Smith (46) and David Warner (41), no other batter has put any major contribution to the run-tally.

Meanwhile, for the Indians, the tweakers have not just put the lid on run-flow but kept sending the batters back to the hut. Ravindra Jadeja has thus far snapped three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav has snapped the critical wickets of Warner and Glenn Maxwell.
