In a significant development, Australia have won the toss and elected to bat first in their first group-stage game of the ICC World Cup against India in Chennai. It's a massive toss to win for the Aussies as the surface in Chennai is on the drier side, with chasing expected to be tough in the latter half.

At toss, Australian skipper Pat Cummins said,

"We are going to bat. It looks like a good wicket. The Sun is out.We are in a really good spot. We've got a good balance, got some game time to the guys, looking fresh. Travis Head is on the couch in Adelaide. Seanny[Sean] Abbott, Marcus Stoinis are not playing and Josh Inglis misses out. Thank you."

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also acknowledged that it would be slightly tricky to chase at the venue. However, he urged his troops to keep the basics right and restrict the visitors to a sub-par total.
