Riding on an exceptional spell from Kuldeep Yadav, India handed Sri Lanka a gut-wrenching 41-run defeat in their second super four encounter in the Asia Cup 2023. Chasing a steep target of 214 on a turning track, Sri Lanka were bundled out for a paltry 172, as Kuldeep recorded a spectacular four-wicket haul. 

Although India pushed Sri Lanka down on the mat, reducing them to 99 for six, the hosts made a commendable comeback, courtesy of a fighting partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage. 

However, the match swung into India's favour, with Ravindra Jadeja dismissing De Silva and Hardik Pandya getting rid of Maheesh Theekshana in quick succession. 

Despite Wellalage remaining unbeaten at one end, Sri Lanka incurred a heavy loss, as Kuldeep Yadav cleaned up Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana within three deliveries to script a memorable Indian win. 

Both deliveries were incredible and good enough to outfox the Lankan tail-enders. The wily craftsman pitched it full, with the ball bamboozling the batters and leaving them shell-shocked. 

With this thumping win, India strengthened their chances of featuring in the final. On the contrary, Sri Lanka would be disappointed to end up on the losing side despite putting up a spirited performance. The Lankan lions will take on Pakistan in their final Super 4 game on September 14, while India will face Bangladesh on the very next day.
