The rapidly intensifying Bangladesh-Sri Lanka rivalry takes center stage once again when the two nations collide at the historic Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi for Match 38 of the ICC World Cup 2023 on Monday (November 6).
The contest between the understated Asian rivals has picked up steam over time with the heartening rise of the Bangla Tigers as an international force coinciding with the sad decline of the Lankan Lions. Bangladesh have never come close to beating Sri Lanka in the men's 50-over World Cup history. Since a maiden World Cup clash between the two sides at the 2003 edition in South Africa, it's been a comprehensive run for the Lankan Lions.
Sri Lanka have repeated their dominance in all three completed encounters, including also one apiece at the 2007 and 2015 iteration of the tournament. The 2019 encounter between them was abandoned due to rain.
