Shreyas Iyer is considered as one of the finest hitters of spin bowling in Indian cricket and on a pitch that is helping spinners at the iconic Eden Gardens, he is playing a crucial role at the number 4 position. He has hit his second consecutive fifty in this World Cup and it is his third fifty overall, in this World Cup.

India started off with a bang but lost Rohit Sharma in the 6th over and soon Gill also departed as India were reduced to 93-2. However, Shreyas joined Virat Kohli and both of them displayed some great patience initially to bat out the tough period against South African spinners. However, once Shreyas got his eye in, he started hitting it all over the park and slammed some big sixes against Shamsi along with some classy boundaries against spinners.

Shreyas got to his fifty in the 31st over and got to the landmark in 64 balls after starting off pretty slow. The shot that took him to his fifty was a typical stand and deliver Shreyas shot. It was a fullish delivery on off and shreyas just lifted it with straight bat over mid off which almost carried full distance before bouncing just before the ropes for a one-bounce four.

He then started playing even more freely after his fifty and at the time of writing, he is batting on 60 off 70 balls with India at 196-2 in 32 overs.  Kohli, on the other end has also got to his fifty and both of them look set for a big hundred.
