Riding on a stupendous knock from keeper-batter KL Rahul, India have posted a respectable first innings score of 245 runs in the first Test against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Coming at number five, Rahul slammed a glorious century, bailing India out of trouble when they were in a precarious situation.

The second day of the Test began with India stranded on 208 for eight, with Rahul and Mohammed Siraj unbeaten in the middle. Under gloomy skies, the Indian duo faced the rampant Proteas pace battery with utmost bravery.

While Siraj fought for 22 balls before falling prey to a jaffa from Gerald Coetzee, Rahul brought up his hundred with a humongous six off the same bowler.

The incident occurred in the 66th over when India were placed at 239 for nine. After stealing a bye, Rahul went with the aerial route, nailing an absolutely gorgeous six between deep midwicket and cow corner.

This century will go down in the history books, not only because it came under critical playing conditions but also it's Rahul's second consecutive Boxing Day Test hundred on South African soil.

However, soon after completing his century, the Karnataka batter was castled by Nandre Burger in the 68th over.
