[Watch] Keshav Maharaj Denies Shubman Gill A Prince-Esque Show In 3rd T20I

Aiden Markram's move of bowling two straight overs of spin worked as a charm in the third and final T20I against India on Thursday. At the Wanderers, the wily bowling of Keshav Maharaj did the early damage as he removed Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma on two straight balls in the third over of the play.

Gill, who got a brilliant start to his innings, could not convert it into a big knock after hitting 12 runs off Nandre Burger. However, the South African left-arm tweaker got the Indian opener plumb in front of the stumps, on a ball that drifted into the right-hander.

The 23-year-old, after some consultation with Yashasvi Jaiswal, went against taking a DRS. However, the reviews showed that the ball would have missed the leg stump if Gill had gone upstairs.

Interestingly, the Gujarat Titans captain has had a marvellous time in 2023, but he couldn't end the year on a high, scoring just 12 runs off six balls in his last innings of the year. Alas for him, he also failed in the previous T20I, taking his run-tally to 12 runs on this South African tour.

Nevertheless, the outing partnership between captain Suryakumar Yadav and Jaiswal has stabilised the nerves after two quick wickets.

At the time of writing, the scoreboard reads India at 64/2 after seven overs, with the Southpaw opener playing as the aggressor at 29* and SKY at 20*.
