South Africa, having taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series, chose to bowl first against India on Thursday (December 14) in the third and final match at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. While the Men in Blue, led by Suryakumar Yadav, went on with the same playing XI which suffered a five-wicket loss against the Proteas less than 48 hours ago, the Aiden Markram-led side made three changes in their lineup.

South Africa’s two premier fast bowlers Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee were unavailable to feature in this match. In their absence, debutant Nandre Burger and Keshav Maharaj made the cut, whereas Donovan Ferreira replaced Tristan Stubbs.

IND vs SA Captains’ Thoughts

Aiden Markram

“We are gonna bowl first again. Fresh wicket, happy with how we chased the other night. There's room for improvement in all aspects. Opportunity tonight to fix that. It's big (to win a series against India). Great occasion, hopefully the boys can express themselves. We've got three changes. Kesh comes back, Nandre Burger gets his debut and Donovan Ferreira comes in for Stubbs.”

Suryakumar Yadav

“We wanted to put runs on the board and defend. It looks on a good track; I don't think it'll change much. That's the brand of play we want to play, guys want to be fearless. There are a lot of positives from the last game. Same playing XI.”
